A Virtual Tour of the Ashdown House’s Royal Portrait Collection
Ashdown House is Swindon’s “second stately home” a 17th century hunting lodge on the Berkshire Downs only 8 miles from the town. It houses a portrait collection that once belonged to Elizabeth Stuart, the Winter Queen, sister of Charles I. In this talk, Ashdown House guide and historian Nicola Cornick takes us on a virtual tour of the collection, giving the fascinating story behind the house, the Winter Queen and her stunning 17th century portraits.
